AVAILABLE POSITIONS:

PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT AND CERTIFICATION

Based on Orton-Gillingham principles for teaching reading and spelling, Wilson Reading System® (WRS) identifies each individual student’s needs before implementing the right diagnostic teaching strategy via the WRS lesson plan. Churchill is honored to have earned the designation of a Wilson® Accredited Partner, one of only a select number of schools in the country. We currently have five Wilson® Credentialed Trainers on staff to support the growth and development of all Wilson® Dyslexia Practitioners through coaching, study groups, and in-house workshops and courses.

Teacher knowledge is a critical factor for student success when implementing WRS. As soon as a teacher joins Churchill they are immediately immersed in Wilson® professional learning to work towards WRS Certification. In one-on-one settings, students use research-based materials and multisensory strategies to gain a comprehensive understanding of reading, writing, spelling, oral reading fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. Continuous assessment throughout the program allows teachers to meet the unique needs and monitor the progress of each individual student.

This extensive professional learning lets us deliver Wilson® instruction with fidelity to achieve extraordinary student results. Churchill faculty members have invested more than 8,300 professional development learning hours in Wilson Reading System® (WRS) training courses.
